World Cup: Outcry Over The Defeat Of The World Champion, Leave Of The Entire Cricket Board, Big Responsibility For The Brave Captain

The effects of Sri Lanka's poor performance in the World Cup 2023 are beginning to be visible. The Sri Lankan government has dismissed the entire cricket board. Sri Lanka's Sports Ministry gave this information on Monday. Let us tell you that Sri Lanka has won only 2 out of 7 matches played in the World Cup so far and the team is almost out of the race for the semi-finals. India defeated Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 302 runs in the last match. Since then there has been an uproar in the country and the Sports Ministry has also asked questions and answers to the selectors regarding this.

Earlier, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe in a statement on Friday had called the Sri Lankan Cricket Board “traitorous and corrupt”. He had demanded the resignation of the board members. Subsequently, Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohan de Silva, the second-highest official on the board, resigned from his post on Saturday as cricket fans demonstrated outside his office over the team's defeat.

A statement issued from the Sports Minister's office said that the Minister on Monday dismissed the remaining members of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and replaced them with an interim committee headed by World Cup-winning former captain Arjuna Ranatunga. Along with Ranatunga, two retired justices of the Supreme Court will also be included in the 7-member committee.

Let us tell you that at present, Sri Lanka is in 7th place in the points table of the World Cup 2023, and on Monday it will face Bangladesh in Delhi. By winning this match, Sri Lanka would like to qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
