Shubman Gill Revealed, Told To Whom Did Mohammed Shami Signal After Taking 5 Wickets?
Mohammed Shami was gesturing after 5 wicket haul: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami is wreaking havoc in the World Cup 2023 with his killer bowling. He broke yet another record against Sri Lanka and made many records, while he has also reached the 6th position in the list of bowlers taking the most wickets in this tournament. After taking 5 wickets against Sri Lanka, Shami made a gesture that fans were a little surprised to see. Actually, after taking 5 wickets, Shami made a gesture in the dressing room by placing the ball on his head, after seeing this reaction of Shami, the fans were left wondering for whom and why he had made this gesture. However, this has now been revealed by Indian opener Shubman Gill.
Shubman Gill said about the match that Mohammed Shami had done this gesture for Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, although he did not tell why Mohammed Shami did this.
Against Sri Lanka, Mohammed Shami took 5 wickets after spending 18 runs in 5 overs. On the basis of his brilliant performance, India registered a big victory of 302 runs. Shami was also awarded the Player of the Match award for his performance.
Mohammed Shami made many records in his name with this 5 wicket haul. Shami has become the bowler taking the most wickets for India in the World Cup. He has done 45 hunts so far. In one stroke, he broke the records of former veteran bowler Zaheer Khan (44) and Javagal Srinath (44).
Shami has also become the bowler with the highest five-wicket haul for India. He did this feat four times. Whereas, Javagal and former veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh did this thrice each.
Shami is the only Indian to take three wickets in the World Cup. Kapil Dev, Robin Singh, Venkatesh Prasad, Ashish Nehra, and Yuvraj Singh took five-wicket hauls once each. Shami has jointly reached the top in terms of taking the maximum number of wickets in the World Cup. He and Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc accomplished this feat three times each.
