Rohit Sharma Created History vs Sri Lanka, World Cup 2023: India registered a huge victory of 302 runs in the 33rd match of the World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka and booked the ticket for the semi-finals. With this victory of Team India, captain Rohit Sharma also created history. Against Sri Lanka, Hitman achieved a feat that no captain could do in the 52 years of history of ODI cricket. Team India, who came to bat first after losing the toss against Sri Lanka, put 357 runs on the board with the help of half-centuries from Shubman Gill (92), Virat Kohli (88), and Shreyas Iyer (82), chasing this score, Sri Lanka had the entire score. The team collapsed for 55 runs in just 19.4 overs. Mohammed Shami took a maximum of 5 wickets for India and was awarded the Player of the Match award.


This victory of India is the fourth biggest victory in terms of runs in the history of ODI cricket. There have been four such occasions in world cricket when teams have won by more than 300 runs. Apart from India, the names of Australia and Zimbabwe are included in this list. India has done this feat twice and both times India was facing the Sri Lankan team and the captaincy was in the hands of Rohit Sharma.


With this, Rohit Sharma has become the first captain in the history of ODI cricket to defeat the opposition team by more than 300 runs twice. This year, India defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs in Thiruvananthapuram, which was the biggest win in the history of ODI cricket.


Talking about Australia and Zimbabwe, the Kangaroos had won over the Netherlands by 309 runs in the World Cup 2023 itself, while Zimbabwe had defeated the USA by 304 runs.
