Keshav Maharaj Became The World's Number One Bowler In ODI, Removed Mohammad Siraj From The Throne
South African spinner Keshav Maharaj has become the number-one bowler in the world with his strong bowling in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He has achieved this position by defeating India's Mohammad Siraj in the ODI rankings.
South African spinner Keshav Maharaj became the world's number-one ODI bowler by overtaking Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj. Siraj could hold the top ranking only for a week. Siraj had become the world's number one ODI bowler on November 8 by replacing Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi but the South African spinner has taken his place in the latest list.
Maharaj has taken seven wickets in three World Cup matches since November 1, including four against New Zealand in Pune. However, there is a difference of only three rating points between Siraj and Maharaj. Siraj is India's fifth most successful bowler so far in the World Cup. He has taken 12 wickets in nine matches, in which three wickets for 16 runs is his best performance.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Kuldeep Yadav are in fourth and fifth positions respectively in the rankings. Bumrah is India's most successful bowler in the current World Cup with 17 wickets in nine matches. In the bowling rankings, Mohammed Shami is at 12th and Ravindra Jadeja is at 19th. India's Shubman Gill, however, remains on top in the batting rankings.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam is in second place. There is a difference of eight rating points between Gill and him. Gill has scored 270 runs in seven matches so far in the World Cup. Star batsman Virat Kohli remains in fourth position. He is the top scorer of the tournament with 594 runs in nine matches with two centuries and five half-centuries.
Captain Rohit Sharma is at fifth position while Shreyas Iyer is at 13th position. Lokesh Rahul is jointly ranked 17th with Australia's Steve Smith. Jadeja is in 10th place in the list of all-rounders. Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan is on top. Hardik Pandya, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury, has slipped to 16th place.
